In which case, you could do a lot worse than checking out the ‘Liberty in Fashion’ exhibition at Southwark’s Fashion and Textile Museum in Southwark (until 28 February 2016). Very easy to reach by Tube from The Spa at The Montcalm Hotel (and in easy walking distance of the terrific tourist haven that is the South Bank, home to the London Eye), the exhibit features 150 ensembles from the collection owned by the world famous Liberty department store off Regent Street, including items designed by Vivienne Westwood and Yves Saint Lauren, a cape from the 1890s made from Chinese shawls, a Paul Poiret silk robe from the 1930s and even some rarities courtesy of iconic trainer manufacturer Nike.

If instead, though, you feel like sampling something a little more specific in the fashion stakes, then how about ‘Shoes: Pleasure and Pain’at the Victoria and Albert Museum in Kensington (until 31 January 2016). Again, easily reachable from The Montcalm Hotel (just around the other side of Hyde Park), this exhibition focuses on the larger-than-life nature of female footwear and boasts 200 different pairs of shoes, from sandals decorated in pure gold leaf from ancient Egypt to the high-end creations to be seen on the fashion show catwalks of today. In fact, this exhibit also claims to consider the cultural impact of some of the most flamboyant and theatrical efforts shoe designers have come up with down through history.

At the Spa at The Montcalm Hotel, we offer at least 10 different delightful types of massage and sumptuous facial, body, hands and feet, and waxing treatments, as well as men’s grooming options – a perfect menu for indulgence of your body and spirit. Andwhen you’re done wallowing in sheer bliss, why shouldn’t you indulge your eyes and visual senses thanks to an eye-popping exhibition or two dedicated to the weird and wonderful world of fashion? Why shouldn’t you, indeed?
